iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus may not be the top-of-the-line models in Apple’s portfolio, but that doesn’t mean the two smartphones will not get the same treatment. The new models launch in India on Friday, September 29 at 6pm IST, and both the handsets cost relatively less than the iPhone X, the flagship model in Apple’s lineup. Though iPhone 8 price in India can be reduced further if you pair up the offers Jio is providing to customers as part of its pre-booking deals. In fact, a page on Amazon India says the Jio deals bring down the “net value after offers” of iPhone 8 64GB to Rs. 18,788.
Apple’s latest-generation iPhones, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, are hitting the retail shelves today. The all-new iPhones launched in the US and over twenty other countries last week (September 22). In India, the phones are arriving in the second phase.
Apple unveiled the two devices, along with the tenth anniversary edition of iPhone termed iPhone X, at an event on September 12. The event was hosted at the Steve Job’s Theatre in the company’s new Spaceship campus in California called Apple Park.
Here’s an offer by which you can get the all-new iPhone 8 at an ‘effective price’ of just Rs 18,778. Wondering how? Apple iPhone 8 (64GB) sports an MRP of Rs 64,000. Buyers will get a cashback of Rs 10,000 on buying the smartphone with a Citibank debit or credit card, which brings its price to Rs 54,000.
Further, Reliance Jio is offering a Jio Buyback of 70% for both iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, this means an ‘effective saving’ of another Rs 44,800. However, to avail this Jio Buyback offer, users need to go for the company’s Rs 799 per month plan. This means yearly cost of Rs 9,588. After the subtraction and addition of all these offers, the net value of Apple iPhone 8 comes at Rs 18,788.
Also, please note that to avail this offer, users will have to buy iPhone 8 either from Reliance Jio outlets or from Amazon India website. They then need to register their phone on MyJio app to get the cashback.

(2) iPhone X price in India starts at Rs 89,000 Apple iPhone X comes in two storage variants, 64GB and 256GB. While the 64GB iPhone X is priced at Rs 89,000 in India, its 256GB variant sports a price tag of Rs 1,02,000. This makes iPhone X Apple’s most-expensive iPhone launched so far.

The smartphone features Apple’s highest resolution phone display: 2436 x 1125 pixels at 458 pixels per inch density (ppi). The TouchID has been replaced by FaceID. iPhone X uses 3D-sensing-powered facial recognition technology in place of the fingerprint sensor.
Both the new iPhones, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus — run on Apple’s latest 10nm A11 Bionic chipset with a 6-core processor. The processor is claimed to be 25% faster than the company’s A10 chipset that powers iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The phones also introduce wireless-charging feature to the iPhones. While Apple iPhone 8 comes with a 4.7-inch Retina HD, the bigger variant iPhone 8 Plus has a 5.5-inch Retina HD display.
Both smartphones come in two storage variants — 64GB and 256GB. With these phones, Apple has increased the base storage to 64GB from 32GB that is the base storage of its 2016 models (iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus).
Apple iPhone 8 has a single 12MP rear camera while the iPhone 8 Plus sports dual 12MP rear cameras. The new cameras are claimed to have been calibrated for augmented reality and boasts of accurate motion tracking tech.
As for the video recording, the duo supports full-HD recording at 240 frames per second. iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus can also shoot 4K videos at 60 frames per second.
While iPhone 8 price starts at Rs 64,000, iPhone 8 Plus’ 64GB variant is priced at Rs 73,000.

iPhone 8 pre-booking via Jio
The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus can be pre-booked from Jio.com website, Jio Store retail outlets and Reliance Digital large format stores. The company says you can only book one iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus unit per mobile number via its platforms, and will have to pay a pre-booking amount of Rs. 1,999. You will also have to provide details such as name, email ID and phone number while placing the order.
On the day of the delivery, you will receive confirmation via email or SMS, and you can head to the assigned Jio Store or Reliance Retail outlet to pick it up. When you pick up the iPhone 8 unit, you will need a copy of the pre-booking confirmation and a copy of the Aadhaar card. The same paperwork will be needed if you are getting the unit delivered at your home or office.
Notably, the iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus unit once booked cannot be cancelled, so you stand to lose the Rs. 1,999 pre-booking amount if you decide against making the purchase after placing the order.
Exclusive Jio plans for iPhone 8, 8 Plus
For iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, Jio has launched new prepaid and postpaid plans that provide 3GB of high speed data per day, unlimited SMSes, Jio apps subscription worth Rs. 1,250 and free voice calls and roaming. These plans are priced at Rs. 799 and come with a 12-month contract, meaning that you will have to recharge the handset every month with Rs. 799. The validity of the plan is 28 days for prepaid and one billing cycle for postpaid.
70 percent buyback guarantee for iPhone 8
The iPhone 8 buyback guarantee by Jio provides customers with 70 percent cashback on returning the handset after a year. This buyback value will be calculated after deducting the taxes applied. You need to install the MyJio app on the phone to claim the offer, and use a Jio SIM card for a year before you hand it over at a Jio store.
Here’s how it works – if you buy the iPhone 8 Plus 256GB for its full price of Rs. 86,000, the buyback will be calculated at Rs. 75,680 – Rs. 10,320 will not be considered for the cashback because of 12 percent GST. So you will get back Rs. 52,976 in the form of vouchers that can be used to upgrade to the next iPhone or purchase goods at the Reliance Digital; the voucher should be used within 6 months or it will expire.
Jio’s iPhone 8 cashback offer
iPhone 8 and 8 Plus buyers can get Rs. 10,000 cashback on payments made via Citibank cards on September 29 only. Flipkart also has a similar offer, with Rs. 10,000 cashback on Citibank Credit and World Debit cards.
